handicptnamerica - your flowers look amazing!! I feed the squirrels too LOL!!!! You do have a green thumb!!!! I consider gardening to be a cross between making art and having a pet. I do both of those things so it's probably not all too surprising I like to garden. I also basically grew up on a farm so it's just kind of in my blood and seems to come naturally.

I planted cucumbers this year. I've underestimated their gumption. Bastards are taking over the garden.

Yeah they spread, but if you have some wire fencing running perpendicular to the ground you can train them to that to save space. And they'll do a little better, probably due to increased air flow. I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I have a chicken wire fence separating them from the carrots, but a few vines already found the carrots and murdered them to death.

Okay - so...this is my pest control... YIKES - rodents don't have a chance with this one - but I'd rather let nature take it's course than do any man made pest control!!!!

Guys all that green flowery leafy stuff is so awesome! In the meantime I’m sitting here killing everything except plastic plants. I mean, once I killed a cactus and that shit doesn’t even need water Same. In terms of house plants. A couple worker once had to take custody of an aloe plant. Super low maintenance plants-it was nearly dead. I used to do ok planting things outdoors.

I need more house/room plants. My Dracaena fragrans needs company, preferably a cornucopia of Cacti. Heck, I need company, otherwise I'll become the Cactus equivalent of a Cat Lady. I treated myself to the James Bond Blu-Ray Box Set yesterday so it's been mostly fun going through them. I've been selecting them at random, using this. numbergenerator.org/randomnumber?high=24#!numbers=1&low=1&high=24&unique=true&start=false It's hard trying to break the rose-tinted specs are far as a couple are concerned. Not so much for others though. Moonraker started off as well as I remember it doing but I'd forgotten how funny it was? Was I meant to be laughing at most of it? I really don't know. It fizzled out towards the end though. Live and Let Die is one of my all time favourites, not a bad word to say against it. Casino Royale was quite jarring in terms of tone, just like it was 12 years ago, but still, I really enjoyed it again, just like 12 years ago. The World Is Not Enough was one I got bored of really quickly. It had some interesting ideas, but somehow it all fell flat fairly fast. M in danger and being personally linked to the mission doesn't quite have the same impact as it would in Skyfall for instance. And yes Denise Richards is very pretty but she's the least convincing scientist since a drunk Isaac Newton pelting apples at folk and shouting 'It wasn't me, it was Gravity!'. Diamonds Are Forever has a really weird tone throughout, it's outrageously campy but can be uncomfortably dark too. It was one that wasn't shown much as a kid so I only remembered bits and pieces, upon retrospect I think that was for the best. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kid quadruple-handedly saved what for now I'm considering to be one of 3 worst bond films ever made. And using the number generator, the next film I'll be watching is: 15- The Living Daylights! I'm looking forward to this one, mainly because I've never seen it! Yep, TLD and For Your Eyes Only (Only for yoooouuuu!) are the only Bond films that for whatever reason, I haven't seen.

Every single time I think water deprivation (and I mean it. I water it, maybe, once every month) has killed my white calla lily, she flowers once again. It's a strange thing. It's been like that for over five years now. A warrior, that one. I'm starting to doubt she's even a calla lily anymore. I think I'm growing a mutant.

Gotta confess my gardening skills are pants. My parents were on holiday last year and I was doing the checking on the house bit, Mum had asked me to water her hanging baskets for her, I managed that no problem, just got the hose out, pointed it at the baskets, pulled the trigger and sprayed. I then thought 'oh tykes be a good son and water the lawn' so I sat there for about 5 minutes happily spraying away while playing with my phone then remembered the grass is artificial ...... what a numpty! .... I did that thing when you pretend to look around absentmindedly but really checking to see if anyone had seen me make a dick of myself, wound up the hose and scrapered, quickest chair to car transfer in years 🙄 Damn Tykes. If we ever get a Triffid outbreak I'm holding you responsible. Inigo Montoya- My plant fabulousness is a facade! I only know the latin name as it's on the pot. I found out the English name and was less than impressed. 'Corn Plant' sounds so dull.

I would definitely fit in the geeky or possibly nerdy category. Definitely a fan of sci-fi. I'm definitely a fan of Star Trek, Stargete, Doctor Who just to name a few things. I could never get into Star Wars though.
I'm always looking for something new to learn. Anything to keep my mind going. Especially if it's science or technology related. Those tend to be the subjects I like most but I'll look up and read into anything that piques my interest.
I'm also a gamer.(PS4) I have been all my life. Losing the use of my hands definitely didn't change that. I may have to lick my controller to play games. But if there's a way to play I'll find it.
I'm sure there are plenty of other ways you could consider me geeky. But those would be the main things I can think of.

As I'm currently playing the new Spider-Man game for PS4, I thought I'd bump this thread again.
And I agree with Akrin, learning and looking things up and reading never grows stale, especially if it involves a passion.
For example, I'm reading David Bryne's (yep, he from Talking Heads) 'How Music Works' and the way we write, record, listen to and appreciate music has changed over the years is just fascinating to read about. Especially as it's so personal to Byrne himself and whilst he quotes plenty of scholars, his own views and slants are what make it so damn good.

My partner and I regularly play Magic the Gathering together, which is about as geeky as it gets. We also recently hooked up the N64 and played Smash Brothers together first thing in the morning . Basically, we are like two 13-year-old boys having a permanent sleepover, and it's awesome.
I also love graphic novels, larping (art larps, not fantasy larps), video games in general, Miyazaki films, and sci-fi.
