because it really has no life alter impact on me. Lucky you. Please tell us how your life has been drastically altered because of someone with BIID that you met in real life.

Wha... Hey, lying isn't good, even if there are worse things. Wheelchair stalls are for who -cannot- use stalls otherwise. Let's not -defend- someone's bad behavior because somehow we're understanding his problem or accepting it. I will gladly support people admitting to a problem, but no one should enable their bad behavior. If he does it because I won't know, then he's also -manipulative-. You seem to be angry that I'm not all "koombayah" about it. Having BIID doesn't make a person physically disabled, physical disability isn't psychological. Green I think you are missing the point. MarineAmp is not all upset that you are not all "koombayah" he is stating why are you getting all bent out of shape about bathroom stalls and hp spots when if you think about the numbers. BIID/Pretenders using up either of those two things are extremely small compared to other people that do not also qualify as physically disabled. The other point he made is how are you going to tell that you ran across a BIID/Pretender in real life using a bathroom stall. They will look like every other fucking low para (I say this with love from one medium para to you small belly low paras... oh those sweet small little bellies) I am not defending BIID/Pretenders nor is MarineAmp. I still am jealous of not have the luxury of choice in my physical state. I understand the basic frustration of this subject but I am not going to go up to every low looking para and ask if they are real or not. Plus the only real way to tell is to wheel up from behind and flip their chair backwards to see their legs jet out for balance. At least this guy is not like some of the guys that come around wanting to swap "disabled" stories or complain how he can't get up to the 2nd floor to partake in the best hotdogs in DC because he can't walk. Thank you for the translation. I have said before and will say it again. Anytime a BIID goes into the world they don't have to say a word, they are instantly lying. I equate it to the stolen valor act. Do it all you want in your own home, and I could give two shits, go out in public and you're a liar. I just don't give a shit anymore if they do it, because it really has no life alter impact on me. I have never shat myself waiting to use a stall, that happened driving down the highway hoping for an exit to come up soon (fuck you Idaho). I have actually never waited on any disabled or potential BIID person for a stall outside of a wheelchair sporting/social event. I have waited on plenty of AB people though, and still I am alive and unsoiled.

I'd be willing to be supportive of BIID - but I'm not willing to support a BIID person's efforts and attempts to make use of wheelchair stalls and handicapped parking spaces. I'm glad you admit it, the next step is to stop doing it. Like you would even fucking know if it happened in the first place. People with BIID aren't not the ones you need to worry about screwing with the "disabled world".

Hi matisse! I can usually find good alternatives to handicap spaces, but my chair doesn't fit in most regular stalls. So, you sometimes take WC parking spots and most of the time take WC bathroom stalls. Out of respect for the real wheeler you would like to become, I ask that you discontinue doing either. I'll say it again, I am not a BIID supporter, but I'd rather have someone with BIID taking up a spot than, some kid with an expired placard who might have a had a broken foot a while ago still taking up the spot, or some fat ass who maybe should be walking a little more or whatever other questionable use of a placard. I'm sure if you saw him taking a spot, you probably wouldn't have any clue he's a faker, but you'd be happy someone in a chair is using the spot.

To add to James' constructive criticism, it is really hard to understand what you're trying to say when you write like that. The way I had to slowly read it in my head just to comprehend what was being said. It made your voice that I'm picturing for you with sound "slow". We've had members who were worse, and have made miraculous transformations (Assy). Welcome

As a power chair user, I would feel kind of dorky playing wheelchair "sports".....it's not as if my thumb and forefinger are going to break into a sweat.... This made me think of how awesome it would be to play wheelchair basketball in power chairs.

I just saw a new Homefront preview. Not the smoothest of shooters, but I haven't had a game make me want to win so badly. Nothing is quite as motivating as fighting the enemy on your home turf and you're the underdog.

My son turns 3 soon, and we also have a girl who is about to be 18 months. Things have definitely been crazy with two kids, one kid is a piece of cake, but two is a full time job.
What has really inspired me to resurrect this thread is the amount of times my son asks me about not having legs. He asks pretty often, maybe once every other day on average, I would estimate. He usually asks me verify that I have no legs, then asks if I hurt my big bone. I think one of the first times I told him, I said something about even my bone being "cut" when I was hurt and now that sticks in his mind.
He is also getting better at realizing that a bunch of stuff on the floor is going to make it hard for me to get through and moves stuff without any prompt from me, which I thought was pretty cool. It will be interesting to see how our girl differs from our boy.

I'm not sure what you want to hear from the vets. I personally hate being stared at. I had a kid at the zoo the other day just stop dead in his tracks staring at me and just say "whoa" like he just discovered boobs for the first time. Initially I didn't know if he was talking about my segway wheelchair or my lack of legs, but it soon became apparent he was checking out the freak show. His parents definitely noticed and I was happy to see them give him a fairly long lecture about how disrespectful that was.
I am not sure what the general public thinks of what an injured vet is suppose to look like, but not to be too disrespect to the scars thread that was created, besides someonerandom's pictures everything else was kind of laughable as far as scars go. Gun shot wounds are no joke obviously, but don't usually leave that impressive of a scar. Even with my amputations my scars aren't anything compared with others I have seen.
I don't condone staring, but anyone who wants to volunteer for this project has my respect.

Congratulations drive you got your 10 post in. Welcome to the world of private messages. I'm not sure if it is a record for least amount of buttons pushed to get to 10 posts, but it is close.

I wish there were more "mature" members, both PWDs and devs. I'm 50, and would like to see more 40+ members of any kind. Old....maybe. Mature....not in this place
