It's interesting to see the reactions of able-bodied people around me when we unexpectedly cross paths. With some of them they can't help but to let it slip--a momentary display of pure horror on their face when they see me; a reminder to them of their own mortality. It's a trip. I used to feel guilty about it but fuck that. That's on them to deal with and not my problem.

It is freezing. So I kept the car engine running while I waited in the car. The amount of dirty looks I got for that was insane. But, they don't know that I hypothermia is a real threat to people with muscle illnesses.

I recently reconnected with one of my best friends from middle school. We went to school together from ages 10 to 13, then I moved away. She was the only one I stayed in touch with for the first few years (after a few years contact became very sporadic). A couple of weeks ago I saw her again for the first time in over ten years. And I found out that her father is a professor of medicine and researcher in the area of neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration. Next year he will publish a book "about the latest research on peripheral nerve regeneration and spinal cord injuries". What are the chances? And how on earth had I not known that before? I had met her father so many times... Isn't it true that her father's research could have a result that is diametrically opposed to your desires? And I don't mean that in any malicious or offensive way. |

I'm sure it would be one of the best moments of my life (unfortunately I don't think there's a realistic chance of that ever Happening). Being slightly less physically attracted to him is a "price" I would very, very happily pay. |
