bLOG...stardate november 2020 (thanksgiving week)
It's been a long time, and my buddy from across the pond told me I should write a little something, but maybe some people missed my blog. Well it was kind of stream of thought writing, at times. Just letting my mind talk. I haven't done it in a very long time, and in fact I haven't been here to see how the community is doing. I suspect it's about the same. I'm what you consider an old quad now. LOL so maybe I can mentor the sheep. lol.
Just for a little background, I'm still a C-5 quad and living in Florida. It's still warm here, and I just came in from outside. The sun is still sweet and hot, just like I like it I think most quads hate the cold just like me. Soon after I got hurt in my car accident up north I decided I needed to move back to Florida where it was warm, and begin a new life. One of the smarter move I've ever made. There hasn't been that many! After five years I learned to drive, went to college, then got a job for Nielsen, where I worked for 17 years. That job fell apart in 2010, and I moved on to early retirement. Ha ha ha I played music I singing with the guitar players and I recorded some great things, but those days are over for me. Still, they were fun. I actually have stopped driving because things got a little dangerous for me. I didn't have an accident, but it came close. It's a little things that I've stopped me from driving anymore, like not being able to see to the left very good. I don't know why, but it's hard to turn my head that way now.
I wrote a book that I sell sometimes on Amazon. It seems like a long time ago that I wrote that, and I guess it is. But I wanted to leave something after I'm gone.
Anyway, I know there must be some young blood here looking for the opposite sex. It's not an easy life, but I believe in that special bond that some people find... I think it can be stronger than most bonds when there is someone disabled. It really depends on the couple, but I know that it can happen, and I've dealt that bond many times in my quad life. Don't be discouraged, and always by the way you want. Society will always look at us differently. It's OK, we are!
Being empowered it's a sexy thing. Now, go get em, you sex machine! lol. Thanks to my main man, Pete, for inviting me back. You're da man, mate!

Great to see you’re back Tony, we’ll have a chat about the Super Bowl when it comes a bit closer.

Well thanks for the welcome you guys, and I'll try to post in this thread a little more than I normally do. Here's something I did some months ago with one of my old guitar players. He lives in Ohio and I have course live in Florida so we tried to sync it up. It's not perfect, but it's OK.

It's been a weird year for me, I think I finally lost my ability to drive my van, which is not easy to accept. There is multiple reasons why, and I won't bore you with the details, but there are certain things you have to accept as you get older, especially if you are a quadriplegic. I was a wonderful driver for over 35 years as a quadriplegic, but I think those days are done.
I got hurt in 1980 in a car accident because I was drunk, I hit a tree. It should've been in my life at that point, but I pulled through somehow. It's been a long fucking haul, and the day after Thanksgiving makes me think of all this tough journey that I've been through over 40 years. I have really had great success, but there is always the downfalls. And as I have gotten older I have had more health problems jump on me; butt sores, out of control spasms and skin probs, etc. Say my life is gone downhill, but at least I am still surviving. Maybe not driving anymore.
