I needed this today. Nothing like some old school kickass Shinedown blaring through my speakers.

Anybody else ever get all emo and listen to a bunch of sad Bee Gees love songs (including those they wrote that were covered or written for other artists)? Or is it just me lol
Im just sayin... these guys knew how to capture the pain of lost love and failed relationships lol. "If I Can't Have You", "Emotion", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", just to name a few
And of course this gem
ETA: gotta throw these in, they're just so damn good

Not a cheery one this morning, but haunting.

I was VERY lucky to see this band live. I was always a fan of their coarser stuff when I was younger, but now this hits me harder than most of their heavier stuff.
Really dark track, definitely not for everyone.

I like to think that my habits of consumption are pretty decent. I don't eat meat or single-packaged food, most of my clothes and furniture are second hand, and my primary concern when I got my car was fuel economy. And then, yesterday, the sun came out for the first time after another [seemingly] interminable grey winter. Have any of you seen Farscape, the space opera put out by Jim Henson Studios with fabulous puppets/animatronics? It's not important (but really, it's great, go watch it.) What is important, is one of the characters is actually a humanoid plant, and experiences a "photogasm" when exposed to bright light. I swear to god, guys, that was me yesterday. Every drop of my blood is from northern latitudes, and I've been known to get a sunburn just walking to my car after work. But oh, the sun after a long shitty winter of sideways rain... So anyway, it was sunny out and I had to get my sunglasses. This is where the consumerism comes in. I made the mistake of going to the optometrist right after watching Taxi Driver and listening to a ton of The Sisters of Mercy, and I ended up dropping like half a paycheck on prescription Caravans with the green-tinted lenses. They're pretty old now, and have a sad scratch where they jumped off my face into a rock, but they're still my babies. You bet your sweet ass I'm going to whip those things out any time the sun is out, like the consumer whore that I am. And what better to listen to, heralding the return of the sun, than something explosive and bouncy? All of this to say, I had entirely too much fun bumping Crystal Castles on the way home yesterday. Edit: accurate.

Ian Dury, one of the greatest PWDs to ever live.
Not much of a singer, but he didn't need to be.

Here's a rather mellower, folksy tune I like.

I have a right laugh whenever I see a Jehovah's witness stall out and about handing out the Watch Tower Magazine.
"I love Jimi Hendrix" I boldly exclaim!
