That’s some great perspective from Nia. I always view being a dev like having an attraction. I wouldn’t want to be with one just because she likes my wheelchair or my inability to walk. I would want her to like me for me. A physical attraction is what the tracks someone at first, but you have to build something deeper. I wanted to address the people who say things like, “Thank God for devs!“ How to put this in a PC way… They might have had poor luck with romance in the past and hope that a dev is the magic bullet. Someone who will bow down to you despite anything else. As far as I know, I’ve never known a dev IRL. maybe it’s because they’re hard to find, or maybe there are more willing to open up online. Either way, I’ve had for filling relationships with non-devs I would certainly be open to romance with a dev, But not BECAUSE she’s a dev. While I disagree with you on your view that being a dev is like having an attraction, I do agree that in order to form a meaningful relationship with somebody, there has to be more than just physical attraction. Having a wheeler fetish and a meaningful relationship are two things that don’t necessarily rule each other out. And then there are the trials and tribulations you have with just any relationship.

I do view my attraction as a fetish. OK, but just realise that labels have baggage. That goes for 'fetish', 'dev' and 'pwd'. We may assume that we mean the same thing by them but there are usually shades of difference and those shades produce strong feelings. Youtube videos of every day wheeler life are my porn and I do get off watching them. And personally I'm fine with that. Let's say you and I were friends and I knew that after meeting for lunch you would go home and jill-off. I'd find that funny and flattering, even exciting. I'm sure I'd tease you about it all the time I wouldn't feel offended by it. If you were harassing me in some way that would be different and I might get very upset by that. You shouldn't feel you are a bad person just because a certain type of guy excites you. Some women get that from seeing a nice beard. The important question is how you behave - whether you are respectful to others. Don't go pulling random guys beards on the street for example Having a fetish and harassing somebody are two different things. For me. Anyways.

I do view my attraction as a fetish.
Youtube videos of every day wheeler life are my porn and I do get off watching them. I do get aroused by wheeler struggles, like difficult transfers, etc. Videos of Wheelers I don't know, wheelers I will never meet. Oftentimes, I mute those videos, because I'm not interested in their personality and I just wanna get my quick wheeler fix.
Am I a bad person? Yeah, and a good person and 100 shades of good and bad inbetween.

I feel you. I can be attracted to AB women and AB and disabled men, but I'm not attracted to disabled women and I never felt the need to pursue my attraction for AB women. I'm weird like that Don't get me wrong, I did have a few cases of spontaneously getting wet when amputee/tattooed girls started talking to me, I just didn't want to be too over-the-top in my wording after the. Erm. Recent events. Now, don't leave me hanging. What are those events? What did I miss?

You’ve got a leg up on me and I’ve been trying 6 years. It’s my evaluation that people in the US are much more closed minded to what’s acceptable as a societal norm I had a feeling Americans were more open about wheelers since they have much more with war injured persons. I do think generalizations are bad (even this one)!

Good point A££Y "Cuddles" Magoo ! And even those devs who are not fully open, shouting about it to everyone they know, might be very open to a serious relationship with the right PWD when presented with the opportunity. I actually dated a local woman a few years ago that was definitely a dev but it wasn't meant to be. Did she know about pd?

It depends on what you consider bi. I can be sexually attracted to females but never really had romantical feelings for one, I also didn't feel the need to pursue it too much. I feel you. I can be attracted to AB women and AB and disabled men, but I'm not attracted to disabled women and I never felt the need to pursue my attraction for AB women. I'm weird like that

That German site is actually the only disabled-dating site that I have an account on. But I do speak a decent amount of German. HL?

Back in the days, I used to keyword search dating sites for "wheelchair" and "paraplegic", etc. Then lust over the profile pictures...

We went to a so called "Dinner in the dark" yesterday.
Having dinner in complete darkness was a real challenge for me. Very emotional, too. Must be because I'm a closet blindness dev.
I was annoyed by people trying to compensate the lack of vision with speaking at full volume all the time.
Anyways, digging up your thread, I guess.
Cheerio.

My intent was not to create a debate or make anyone uncomfortable./ So much of our lives is defined by what we do. Just want to know what others on here are up to. FWIW: I hate my job lol That's interesting. I know quite a bunch of lawyers who'd say that. I gotta say I feel a bit better about what I do since I started my own firm.

Yes, totally take the money and have your friend tell them you need it for condoms.
